Star of stage, screen, and billboard, this celebrity's electric personality led him to the leading role in the motion picture "The Mighty Atom," which introduced the concept of nuclear energy to average Americans. Reddy Killowatt is also a familiar face from your electric bill -- at least he's familiar if you paid your electric bills during the 50's and 60's. His distinctive light bulb nose, receptacle ears, rubber safety boots, and lightning-quick physique have illuminated millions of utility advertisements. Created by Alabama Power Company employee Ashton B. Collins in 1926, Reddy Killowatt's image became synonymous with the growth of the electric power industry in the United States.

In this characterization from the early 1960's, Reddy's body is a clear red lightning bolt in his traditional "Z" pose. His face, hands, and feet are round and full, and the details of his face are shown in great detail. His eyes even have an eyelash or two, and his mouth is full and smiling showing his tongue and his dimples. Reddy and Kilowatt are printed across the side of each shoe.
